Early Beginnings in Journalism
Matt Green began his career in journalism, where he developed his writing skills by exploring the lives of various artists. His articles created vivid stories of these creators and their artistic journeys, enabling readers to connect with art on a deeper level. He not only captured the essence of the artworks but also highlighted the passion and commitment of the artists behind them.

Matt Green Transformational Inspiration
This work illuminated the creative process, and each story became a catalyst for his hidden desire to paint. Eventually, the internal urge transformed from mere curiosity to a deep-seated need to create.
What pushed him to take that leap into painting was the unwavering support from Kellyann. Recognizing the potential in Matt, she encouraged him to explore his artistic abilities. Her energetic tales of painting at spontaneous hours and the cathartic nature of creating art empowered him to find his style. With her stories echoing in his mind, he felt emboldened to seek out his artistic voice. She encouraged him to revisit his earlier interests, helping him see the potential in translating those interests into his own artwork.
In a world where art is frequently held back by societal norms, Kellyann boldly encouraged Matt to push boundaries and explore the liberating realm of abstract painting that has ultimately come to define his work. This narrative-driven style did more than inform; it awakened something within Matt. As he shared the stories behind each piece, he felt a strong urge to pick up a brush and create art himself. He firmly believes that inspiration strikes unexpectedly; it is never planned or prescribed. The creative process embodies a zen-like experience, allowing everything to unfold naturally and authentically.

The Talent for Art
Interestingly, Matt showed a talent for art during his school years, engaging in simple drawing exercises and receiving encouragement from teachers. Despite his early promise, life led him down a different path, and he set aside his artistic ambitions and became a journalist.
Embracing Abstract Art
Today, Matt Green is celebrated for his abstract painting style. His use of broad, powerful brush strokes and vibrant colors captures attention and elicits emotional responses, allowing viewers to interpret the works in their own personal ways.
His distinctive painting techniques, developed through continuous practice and experimentation, give his art a unique voice. This approach emphasizes the freedom found in abstract art, promoting exploration of feelings and thoughts without the limitations of traditional forms.
Matt Green's thoughts on abstract.
During our conversation, I asked him how he names his artwork. Do you, for instance, give it a title like "Title #1"?
Matt Green: "I name my paintings after they are completed. I believe that when viewers look at my abstract art, they should be able to form their own interpretations of the piece in front of them."

During a short interview, I had the opportunity to ask Matt some excellent questions.
What are some of the achievements so far as an abstract artist?
Matt: "Some of my achievements so far are discovering my calling, which is painting, and taking part in Lumen, Pancakes and Booze in July, and Show Gallery next year."
How do you get to the next level of painting when you start off with a simple line? How does the painting evolve?
Matt: "When I paint, it's kind of like a ouija board, I begin a long stroke and just let my thoughts and emotions guide me. I never know what will come next because it's just all my emotions and thoughts flowing through my hand to the brush. Once what I' 'm working on dries, I evaluate it there's any more painting that is needed."
From the journey of starting at the beginning of abstract art, how much of a transformation of style has changed? Do you notice growth in your artistic style and techniques?
Matt: "I feel I started by painting what I wanted to see on the canvas, but over time. I just put on some music and let my creative mind take over and eliminate any outside stress and feel the process."
What was your favorite wow moment when you step back and look at the painting?
Matt: "I think the wow moment is just when I sit back on the couch and just admire what I've created. I love that just earlier, when I painted never existed. And now what is on the canvas it being put out in the world. And it all came from what was happening in my mind at the time."
How do you prepare for an art show with a deadline that is close?
Matt: "To prepare for an art show, I kind of hibernate. Every night, I just listen to music on Spotify and read to be mentally prepared for a show. I also make sure I have everything I need a week before, so it's not too stressful the day leading up."
If you could do a collaboration with any living or dead artist, who would you choose and why?
Matt: "For collaborating. I've enjoyed collaborating with Art Designs by Kellyann, she's my inspiration, and it's been wonderful to collaborate with her."
What are some of the challenges you faced when you moved from being a journalist to being inspired to go full speed into being an artist? Did you find yourself over critical?
Matt: " There haven't been any challenges becoming an artist, as I feel I've always had the talent, and I just never realized it. Regarding journalsm, I always took the skills that I learned, including creativity and the ability to improvise and think outside the box, and to innovate."
Part 1: How many pieces have you created since the transition? Part 2: What was the most challenging and rewarding piece you created?
Matt: "I've lost count as to how many artworks I've completed, but I'd say at least 20.I think the most challenging part was what to do when things don't go the way I planned to start a painting. I once heard if you make a mistake, make another one, and then another one, and all those mistakes are going to create something beautiful."

The New Collection
With growing confidence, Matt dedicated himself to developing a new collection, set to be unveiled at the upcoming Lumen Art Show. This showcase not only highlights his current artistic phase but also reflects the culmination of his life experiences. It marks an exciting chapter for a man who once viewed art strictly through the lens of a writer.
Among the pieces in the collection, one painting stands out. It began as a simple blue acrylic base but transformed into an eye-catching work that some viewers liken to Sonic the Hedgehog. This piece exemplifies Matt’s artistic process, blending spontaneity with intention.
