During a short interview, I had the opportunity to ask Kellyann some excellent questions.

  1. What paintings or digital art took the longest to create

Kellyann: "Honestly, it depends on my creativity level for both disciplines. But one thing about me as an artist I have to keep going until it's finished. So usually within 2 days I am finished."

  2. Who are the people or artists that influence your creativity?

Kellyann: " Wassily Kandinsky for sure."

  3. What are some of the challenges you faced?

Kellyann: "I probably am my worst critic, and sometimes it can be challenging in doing my art."

  4. How do you create these magical, inspirational pieces? Can you give insight into your creativity?

Kellyann: "I never know what I am going to create. I just find myself channeling off somewhere, and before I know it, I have created something."

  5. Where would you like to have your next show, if it could be anywhere or any place in the world?

Kellyann: "Probably France, I find the French to be quite open to new ideas and Concepts."

In past exhibitions, Keyllyann's style was evident.

For instance, in her mixed media works, she integrates materials such as charcoal, watercolor, and fabric, creating layers of texture and meaning. Her other artworks delve into the digital realm, showcasing surreal fantasy art that blends sci-fi elements with nature.

The Educational Foundation: George Brown College

Kellyann's artistic journey began at George Brown College in Toronto, where she immersed herself in the world of commercial art. The rigorous curriculum laid down a strong foundation in art and design principles, essential skills for navigating the artistic landscape.

Through hands-on coursework, she learned techniques such as color theory, composition, and digital art, which enriched her artistry. For example, her projects often incorporated real-world applications, preparing her to meet industry standards. The structured environment fostered her technical skills while encouraging creativity, evident in her innovative designs.

Alongside formal education, Kellyann pursued self-directed learning. Seeking inspiration from sources such as art history books, online courses, and local galleries has broadened her horizons. This combination of formal education and independent exploration has allowed her to experiment boldly and evolve continuously as an artist.

Kellyann’s artistic process is both personal and reflective. Her inspiration comes from cultural experiences, nature, and the complexities of human emotion. She transforms daily observations into vibrant pieces that resonate deeply with viewers. For example, a recent painting inspired by her walks through High Park captures the beauty of seasonal change, using rich greens and fiery reds to depict the transition of leaves.

Engaging with various artistic communities enhances her development. Collaborating with fellow artists allows her to exchange ideas, pushing her creative boundaries further. Participating in group critiques, she has honed her ability to receive and give constructive feedback, which has been instrumental in her growth.
